Mind-Body Therapy

Recover from chronic pain, anxiety and physical symptoms through Mind/body Therapy

Using Mind/Body Therapy and Pain Reprocessing Therapy to overcome chronic pain, anxiety and ongoing physical symptoms and help you back to living a full and vibrant life

Chronic pain and other ongoing physical symptoms can often stem from long-term emotional stress and are the brains response to perceived threats, like fear of symptoms, activities, difficult emotions or situations.

When the nervous system gets stuck in a fight-or-flight mode, both emotional and physical symptoms can result. These types of conditions are commonly referred to as Mind/Body Disorders, TMS (Tension Myositis Syndrome) Psychophysiological Disorders or Neuroplastic Symptoms.

It’s important to know that symptoms like pain or anxiety don’t always mean there’s actual biological damage or illness and, more importantly, they don’t have to be something you live with!

Although chronic pain and ongoing symptoms can be treated through psychological approaches, that doesn’t mean they’re “all in your head.” These experiences are very real. Neuroplastic symptoms, those caused by the brain and nervous system, can be intensely painful or uncomfortable, even when there’s no underlying physical damage. The hopeful news is that just as the brain can learn to create pain or symptoms, it can also learn to let them go. See here for more information on science behind this.

The Steps to Recovery:

  • Develop an understanding of the neuroscience behind pain and ongoing symptoms through psychoeducation.
  • Identify and process emotional and psychological triggers that may be contributing to your pain or symptoms.
  • Use a combination of therapeutic techniques, including mindfulness, somatic awareness, emotional processing and nervous system regulation to help reduce or eliminate the brain’s pain and symptom signals.
  • Over time, these approaches reduce fear input, from symptoms and/or emotions, and support the brain in rewiring itself, leading to long-term relief and a return to symptom-free, empowered living.

What You Can Expect from Our Sessions:

  • Exploration of the emotional and psychological patterns that may be contributing to your pain or symptoms.
  • Compassionate, supportive care to guide you through your unique healing process.
  • The benefit of my in-depth experience from my own recovery and subsequent training in mind/body therapy, as well and my experience and knowledge as a counsellor
  • Sessions might look like – talking, somatic work, nervous system regulation, psychoeducation, emotional support, meditation, breathwork, emotional processing, counselling theory, laughing, crying…. It’s all welcome

My Journey

I came to this work through my own 9-year experience of a chronic health condition which involved pain and a myriad of other symptoms. After multiple visits to multiple medical doctors and alternative practitioners, through which I at best gained temporary relief, I discovered mind body medicine and embarked on my own healing journey and today live chronic symptom free.

I’m so excited to be able to use my own experience of recovery, along with my counselling knowledge and training in mind/body therapy to support others to become chronic pain and symptom free.
